CRIME NEWS

  • Over the weekend, unknown individuals egged the proposed LRA housing facility at 8th Ave and Edison Street - set to open later this year - prompting police to investigate the incident while city and school leaders plan to contest the project at a council meeting tonight.  Apple Valley News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Program will host its annual fundraiser, Night on the Runway with Our King, Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Riverfront Hotel in Richland to raise funds for college scholarships and leadership training for African-American girls in grades 10-12 (registration forms are online).  Apple Valley News Now

  • Local law in Kennewick, Pasco and Richland prohibits non-running vehicles on public streets for over 72 hours — a broken-down car with a homestead note in Pasco remains under close watch as officers may remove it soon.  KONA
  • State Reps. Barnard and Klicker introduced House Joint Memorial 4016 asking Gov. Ferguson to have state agencies plan a competitive response to DOE’s Nuclear Lifecycle Campus call; they argue Tri Cities' skilled workforce + supply chains can attract investment and jobs.
