COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Port of Kennewick will celebrate the opening of Blueberry Bridal Boutique, the first business at Vista Field, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. at 625 Crosswind Blvd.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • Richland Public Library will open 'The Lawn,' a new outdoor event space with a ribbon-cutting at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7 at 955 Northgate Drive — the event will include Story Time at 10:15 a.m. and a festival at 1:00 p.m. for all ages.  NBC Tri-Cities

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Washington gas prices rose 50 cents in one month and now rank as the third highest nationally at $4.35 per gallon, with local rates in the Tri-Cities around $4. Experts say the seasonal switch to a summer blend drove the increase.  FOX 41 Yakima

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bailey Newell (first-grade teacher at Columbia Burbank Elementary) was honored with February’s Classroom Makeover award from WaFd Bank yesterday. She received $300 to buy manipulatives, cushions, and flexible seating for her 16 students.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • Students at Kiona Benton High School are building life skills through the Future Farmers of America program, which is growing quickly. Vice president Jaylyn Wilson said hands-on activities such as extemporaneous speaking contests and AG sales help students gain confidence for future challenges.  FOX 41 Yakima

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ben Franklin Transit installed new heaters in bus shelters at Queensgate Transit Center in Richland during the week of Feb. 16 to boost transit efficiency, comfort + safety for riders.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Pasco city leaders met on Monday and reviewed an emergency amendment to update the School District’s Capital Facilities Plan for growing enrollment and new projects, including middle school expansion and land acquisition. The plan links fee differences for single-family and multifamily developments, with multifamily units paying $2,595 each.  Apple Valley News Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • Officials announced that Spokane, Tri-Cities and Yakima have been named official World Cup fan zones for 2026, with the Tri-Cities zone set at the Pasco Sporting Complex. Fans in the area will soon enjoy local celebrations as the international soccer event approaches.  NBC Tri-Cities
