  • Volunteers from WASART rescued Pepper after she slipped 60 feet down a hillside near Mud Mountain Dam on Feb. 26. The team secured her with a twin-tension rope system before darkness fell.  KONA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Reclamation released its water supply forecast for the Yakima Basin showing junior water rights holders will receive 44% of their shares from April to September while senior holders get full allotments; meanwhile, the Roza Irrigation District (covering 95 miles) plans early canal shutdowns amid drought concerns.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Kennewick Irrigation District warned that the forecast shows only 44% of its normal water supply amid a fourth consecutive drought and urged residents to conserve water by following a voluntary schedule — reducing the need for mandatory restrictions later.  Apple Valley News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Richland-based nonprofit, Semillero de Ideas, will share in a $1.1 million grant from the state’s Climate Commitment Act to boost workplace safety for farmworkers facing extreme weather & climate hazards.
