ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tariffs on imported building materials from Canada, Mexico and China are raising costs for new home construction and remodeling, with prices already climbing higher before more tariffs take effect. Builders now face an extra cost of about $7,500 to $10,000 per single-family home—and those increased expenses may slow home sales as they pass costs on to buyers.  FOX 41 Yakima

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Washington State Department of Agriculture announced that Japanese beetle pesticide treatments will expand from one square mile last year to eight square miles this year, including a new treatment zone in Kennewick — a response to increased sightings in Pasco. Homeowners and businesses in the treatment areas are urged to grant permission for spraying as the infestation poses a threat to local gardens and turf.  KEPR TV
