- ➤ Salvation Army leader Major Cristian Sibaja said his agency is offering help and hope to those facing homelessness through the program Sinclair Cares: From Homeless to Hope after a January count showed similar numbers as last year. - ➤ Elijah Family Homes marked 20 years of helping families overcome addiction by launching a village with cottage homes in partnership with local community members. The project includes a community center for classes and workshops as part of a three-year Transition to Success Program—an open house was held yesterday at Lextar Homes in Kennewick to showcase the vision. - ➤ Elijah Family Homes (marking 20 years of service) has supported families overcoming addiction with stable housing and case management, and will celebrate by building a village with six cottages and a community center for a three-year Transition to Success Program. - ➤ On March 19th at about 9:53 p.m., Kennewick police responded to a call from Arlo on 10th Apartments when a 27 year old man named Dillon Winters with a large knife charged an officer—two officers shot him in self-defense while no one else was hurt—Winters was treated on scene and taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries as a Special Investigations Unit began its probe. - ➤ On April 8 at 8:00 p.m., Kamiakin High School Choir and Symphony Orchestra will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York — part of the Harmonic Convergence Concert featuring a world-premiere piece by Dr. Brandon Boyd. - ➤ Tri-Cities native Isaac Carpenter was announced as the new drummer for Guns N’ Roses, replacing Frank Ferrer who played his last show in Mexico on November 5th. Carpenter, who co-founded Kennewick’s Loudermilk in 1995 and worked with AWOLNATION and Adam Lambert, will join the band on a tour — covering Europe, Asia and the Middle East — later in 2025.
