- ➤ The Three Rivers Convention Center held a groundbreaking ceremony on March 24 for an expansion project approved by the City Council on February 18 that will add 60,000 square feet of exhibit space, 5,000 square feet of meeting rooms, an extended lobby and a new kitchen—no new taxes were imposed for the project. The expansion is expected to attract nearly 200,000 annual attendees, boost the local economy by $130.8 million and generate $6.9 million in tax revenue—while a 162-room hotel will begin construction in April and the project is set for completion in Fall 2026. - ➤ On March 23, a residential fire near West 12th Avenue and South Yelm Pl. in Kennewick was caused by unattended barbecue coals not fully out and toppled by high winds, and officers safely evacuated residents as the fire department extinguished the blaze — reminding residents to follow safe grilling practices. - ➤ Lawmakers advanced a bill on Thursday that would extend special education services until students turn 22 following a federal lawsuit over age limits. The bill passed unanimously and now moves to the Rules Committee—lawmakers say its cost could range from $6.7 million to $27 million based on student enrollment. KONA

- ➤ Woolite is recalling its 50-fluid-ounce Woolite Delicates detergent bottles on March 20 because some may contain bacteria that can cause infection in people with weak immune systems—customers with lot codes S24364, S24365, and S24366 should stop using the product and contact Reckitt for a full refund.
