  • Queer community members will attend a free safety workshop that teaches Aikido and relaxation techniques at 9 a.m. Saturday at 1348 Jadwin Ave in Richland—space is limited and registration is required.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • On Saturday, March 27th, the Benton County Fairgrounds hosted a Reptile Expo that ran from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.—offering exotic reptiles, easy-to-care-for pets like insects and rodents, and essential pet supplies.  FOX 41 Yakima

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Tri-City Quilter’s Guild quilt show will have a 'Home is Where the Heart Is' theme—tying together ideas of home, hearts and quilts—and will be held this weekend at the Three Rivers Convention Center. The two-day event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday with a $10 admission covering both days.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • PFLAG Benton Franklin will host a Trans Day of Visibility event on Sunday at 12 p.m. in Kennewick — featuring entertainment, speed weddings, community resources, a clothing swap and skill demonstrations for hair and makeup — with clothing donations accepted at Adventures Underground, Hot Mess and Moonshot Brewing.  FOX 41 Yakima

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kennewick School District board filed a federal complaint with the Department of Education regarding state policies that let students assigned male at birth compete in girls' sports and use women's locker rooms—board officials said these rules breach Title IX and deny girls fair opportunities.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • At the Hanford Training Facility, law enforcement officers trained with the PIT maneuver— a technique to safely stop fleeing vehicles—while local agencies unified their procedures for real-world pursuits. Captain Mick Thompson said the training helped standardize methods and prepare officers to protect communities.  Apple Valley News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recent study found that older adults with mild cognitive impairment scored lower on a peel-and-sniff test for early signs of dementia—researchers say the self-administered test could soon help detect risk at home.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • A study from March 27 showed that an AI program improved IV nutrition for preemies as doctors consistently preferred its prescriptions over handmade formulas and noted that babies fed differently had higher risks of complications. Researchers will soon run a clinical trial to compare outcomes between babies receiving standard nutrition and those fed with the AI-guided method — doctors will review all recommendations before they are used.  FOX 41 Yakima
