- ➤ Kennewick firefighters held their 'Fill the Boot' fundraiser yesterday at Summer’s Hub to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and support research on muscular dystrophy, ALS, and neuromuscular diseases—an effort part of a 70-year-old national tradition that has raised over $700 million. - ➤ The Columbia Center Rotary Charity donated $250,000 to the Benton Franklin Recovery Coalition to support the Family Room and other family services at the Columbia Valley Center for Recovery+ the first inpatient recovery facility in the Tri-Cities. The charity will host a dedication reception on April 10 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.+ officials and community representatives will speak at the event center at 6222 West John Day Avenue in Kennewick. - ➤ Leonardo Martinez, a 32-year-old from Pasco, was sentenced to 125 months in prison and 5 years of supervised release for trafficking fentanyl after Richland Police seized 10,179 fentanyl pills during a domestic dispute—court documents show officers also recovered a handgun and methamphetamine from his vehicle. - ➤ An off-duty WSP trooper, Sarah Clasen, was involved in a fatal crash in Richland on March 1 when she turned in front of a motorcycle, killing 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez, and a toxicology report later showed her blood alcohol content was .17—more than twice the legal limit. Apple Valley News Now
