BUSINESS NEWS

  • Toner Properties LLC recently completed a remodel that consolidated all Highstreet Insurance PNW Tri-Cities employees into one office at Vista Center—6816 W. Rio Grande Ave.—in Kennewick. • Framatome in Richland plans to expand its facility by building on an adjacent agricultural field to produce the next generation of HALEU fuel for nuclear reactors. The project, estimated to cost $300 million to $400 million, will add about 200 jobs and now focuses on recruiting local talent—further financing is needed before construction can begin.  Tri-Cities Business News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • By 2030, the Tri-Cities will add over 15,000 new residents age 65 and older — a change that will alter the local housing market and strain health care services — as experts predict that older adults’ higher household wealth will shift the mix of local goods and services.  Tri-Cities Business News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Friends of the Mid-Columbia Libraries, an independent nonprofit, will hold its volunteer-run Spring Book Sale on April 30th at the Kennewick Branch at 1620 S. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Kennewick City Council will consider a proposed fire impact fee at its meeting today—meant to fund a new fire station on Bob Olson Parkway and meet growing service demands in Southridge. • Kennewick Representative April Connors sponsored House Bill 1191 to reclassify manufactured homes in cooperatively owned communities as real property so homeowners can qualify for traditional mortgage loans. The law passed unanimously, was signed by Gov. Bob Ferguson, and goes into effect in October—further steps to ease the housing shortage.  FOX 41 Yakima
