- ➤ The City of Richland — which began construction in September 2024 — is hosting a ribbon cutting and grand opening for the new Sturgeon Cove Playground at Howard Amon Park on Friday, May 16th at 11 a.m. The playground features a replica paddle wheel cruise ship structure, improved ADA accessibility and dueling ziplines — features designed for preschoolers and older children — that expand play options. - ➤ On April 23, Pasco first responders rescued five 3.5-week-old kittens hidden in the walls of a home under renovation after an owner reported hearing squeaking sounds—veterinary care was provided at Tri-Cities Animal Services and the kittens will be ready for adoption in about five weeks. - ➤ Pasco Police, Fire and Tri-Cities Animal Services rescued five 3.5-week-old kittens from the walls of a home under renovation on Wednesday morning—responders located the kittens after the owner reported squeaking sounds—and the kittens received veterinary care and will be ready for adoption in about five weeks. Families will ring the brass bell in the Worker Memorial Garden after the names of those who lost their lives from toxic chemicals, hazardous exposures, and motor vehicle accidents are read aloud.
