  • The City of Richland — which began construction in September 2024 — is hosting a ribbon cutting and grand opening for the new Sturgeon Cove Playground at Howard Amon Park on Friday, May 16th at 11 a.m. The playground features a replica paddle wheel cruise ship structure, improved ADA accessibility and dueling ziplines — features designed for preschoolers and older children — that expand play options.  NewsTalk 870
  • On April 23, Pasco first responders rescued five 3.5-week-old kittens hidden in the walls of a home under renovation after an owner reported hearing squeaking sounds—veterinary care was provided at Tri-Cities Animal Services and the kittens will be ready for adoption in about five weeks.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • Pasco Police, Fire and Tri-Cities Animal Services rescued five 3.5-week-old kittens from the walls of a home under renovation on Wednesday morning—responders located the kittens after the owner reported squeaking sounds—and the kittens received veterinary care and will be ready for adoption in about five weeks.  NBC Tri-Cities

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Today a heavy semi-truck tipped onto its side on the sharp curve of Hwy 240 toward Kennewick, prompting calls for road safety improvements + similar tip-overs have been reported on this dangerous exit in recent years.  KONA

  • Cedar's on Clover Island, a well-known restaurant with views of the Columbia River, is up for sale and will remain open until a new owner is found. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today at 2 p.m., more than 20 workers with ties to the Tri-Cities will be honored at Washington State Department of Labor and Industries’ Workers’ Memorial Day service held at 7273 Linderson Way SW in Tumwater. Families will ring the brass bell in the Worker Memorial Garden after the names of those who lost their lives from toxic chemicals, hazardous exposures, and motor vehicle accidents are read aloud.  Tri-Cities Business News
