  • The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership launched the Love Downtown Insiders program yesterday to offer local shoppers discounts through a $30 donation for a key-chain, available at Dragon-Fire Goblin-Smith and Rise-and-Shine Bake Shop. The program supports upcoming events including the Mother’s Day Flower Crawl and Boo Bash.  KEPR TV
  • The Richland Public Library book sale remains open today and will run until Saturday at 4, with most books priced at $1 or less + a grocery bag deal offering as many books as shoppers can carry for $5; proceeds support the library.  KEPR TV

  • Brandi's Bakes in Kennewick is offering a half off e-voucher (a $25 voucher for $12.50) starting today at 6 a.m. on seizethedeal.com that lets customers save on cupcakes, cookies and other treats.  KONA
  • Dave & Buster’s plans to open a location at Columbia Center mall in Kennewick inside the former Joann and Sears spaces. It filed a change-of-use application on April 17 with public comment accepted until May 5, and demolition and remodeling are expected to cost $6.85 million.  Tri-Cities Business News

  • Kennewick’s Dance Connection is hosting a free International Dance Day event this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 104 Vista Way behind the Chase bank; guests will join a warm up and see photos of its new studio space.  KEPR TV

  • Kennewick School District approved a new flag policy in a 3 (2) vote that limits the permanent display of political flags such as Pride and Black Lives Matter in classrooms while allowing teachers temporary use during lessons; the policy takes effect immediately and will be enforced by school administrators.  Apple Valley News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials from the Benton Franklin Health District are asking Tri Cities residents to share input on local air quality & drinking water issues through an online survey and at grocery stores where gift cards will be offered. The survey runs online through July.  KEPR TV
  • WSU researchers at Tri-Cities discovered a new sewage treatment method that cuts costs and boosts renewable natural gas by 200% while converting up to 80% of sludge into a valuable resource. The team is partnering with industry to scale the project.  Tri-Cities Business News
