- ➤ Kennewick opened its first fully fenced and inclusive playground at Lawrence Scott Park as part of Kason's Kause, a project led by 10-year-old Kason Creed who advocates for accessible parks. The playground features grass, art and a fence for safe play+ Parks, Recreation and Facilities Director Nick Farline said it is fully accessible to all children. NBC Tri-Cities
- ➤ Local truck driver Chris Poynor reached 2 million accident-free miles—more than 80 trips around the equator—and he will compete in his eighth national championship this August. NBC Tri-Cities
- ➤ A pair of bonded senior dogs at the Benton County Canine Shelter in Kennewick need a loving home quickly—separation could harm their health. Princess Leia is a 14-year-old beagle mix receiving cancer treatment and Tootie is an 11-year-old chihuahua mix who loves walks—visits are available at 1116 N. - ➤ A 16-year-old male was arrested on May 8 for alleged involvement in a shooting near Clearwater and Edison Street last month — he was booked on first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm charges and police served search warrants at residences in the 4800 and 5000 blocks. - ➤ Police said a 29-year-old man, later identified as Keanu Ashby, faced DUI charges after his silver Toyota, which he was driving without a seatbelt, collided with a Ford truck in downtown Kennewick early May 8 — witnesses said the car ran a red light and fled the scene while Ashby suffered a head cut and broken femur. - ➤ Sen. Maria Cantwell announced on May 8th that 12 Washington airports received $66,758,406 in federal grants for terminal upgrades, with Spokane International receiving $6.5 million for new gates and passenger areas and Tri-Cities getting $7.3 million for modernizing its terminal+ further funding will improve taxi lanes and aprons at Deer Park, Richland and Odessa.
