- ➤ Kennewick will host the 78th Annual WRPA Conference and Trade Show May 13-16 where over 550 park professionals, sponsors and exhibitors will join interactive exhibit halls, educational sessions and local facility tours — free events like the Urban Greenbelt Trail Walking Tour remain available while the Pickleball Tournament has been canceled with refunds to be issued by email. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kennewick Police responded to a disturbance on the 2100 block of North Steptoe Street on Saturday and arrested two people after one, who had a no-contact order, stayed inside a home while police used SWAT and other resources to resolve the incident—additionally, a family member was arrested for vehicle prowling and resisting arrest. - ➤ Tri-Cities communities are marking National Police Week from May 11-17 by honoring law enforcement with May 15 designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day—official proclamations call on residents to join ceremonies that remember officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. NBC Tri-Cities
- ➤ Hanford Patrol introduced two K-9 teams at the Hanford Site to boost security by using trained black Labradors to detect explosives and firearms. Officer Briana DeLine works with K-9 Libby + Officer Erik Bombard is teamed with K-9 League. NBC Tri-Cities
- ➤ Benton County Public Works Engineering has proposed lowering the speed limit on a half-mile stretch of Badger Road from 50 MPH to 35 MPH after a study found inadequate sight distances caused by two private road intersections and a nearby bluff. Commissioners will consider the change at their meeting on May 13 (traffic volume ranges from 550 to 700 vehicles daily) (with the road’s surface condition rated above 80%). NBC Tri-Cities
