  • Mirror Ministries moved to a new facility in Kennewick to expand its support for survivors by offering larger spaces for counseling, childcare, and support groups. The new building—three times larger than its previous location—has allowed the organization to better meet growing local needs while keeping its address confidential.  FOX 41 Yakima

  • Ground was broken on May 20 for a five-story AC Hotel by Marriott in Kennewick's commercial center near the Three Rivers Convention Center. A-1 Hospitality, after COVID-19 delays, is advancing a $38-million project financed by Idaho Central Credit Union and Bellevue Capital+ Fowler Construction serving as both general contractor and project partner.  Tri-Cities Business News

CRIME NEWS

  • Kennewick Police arrested Heriberto Villaruel early Wednesday just before 4:30 a.m. after a SWAT standoff near North Fruitland Street and West Grand Ronde Avenue—Villaruel, who was wanted on multiple warrants including a felony domestic violence order violation, barricaded himself in a residence on West Entiat Avenue until officers found him in the attic.  Apple Valley News Now
  • A hit-and-run on I-182 left one driver hospitalized and police took another into custody—authorities later found the suspect sleeping in a backyard on the 3900 block of Wernett Rd.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Today the EPA awards over $6M in grants to redevelop contaminated sites into valuable spaces. The Benton Franklin Council of Governments received $1.2M—funds that will support planning, environmental assessments, and community outreach for future development projects.  KEPR TV
