ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A man was fatally injured on May 23 when a front-end loader struck him near Morency Drive and Epic Street in Richland—medics tried to save him but he died at the scene, and an investigator from Yakima was sent as the investigation continues.  NBC Tri-Cities

CRIME NEWS

  • Tuesday morning, Kennewick Police responded to a call at Burger King on South Quillan Street after Stephen Zimmerle allegedly jumped on cars, smashed a window, and entered the restaurant before officers used a Taser to arrest him—an incident that left an employee trapped in the freezer rescued.  KONA
  • Kennewick Police responded Saturday when a sedan crashed into the main irrigation canal near South Oak St and E Bowles Road near Finley and later located the registered owner near an orchard—his pants were soaked and he had the key fob in his pocket, though he denied driving; he is now held on hit-and-run charges.  KONA

  • A local research scientist will give a talk on tech—conservation and local wildlife tonight at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Kennewick.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Citizen scientists with the Friends of Blue Mountain Audubon Society are joining their bird-watching hobby with official research in Kennewick—helping track local wildlife trends and support conservation efforts.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • The DOE is testing key chemicals at the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant to treat 5,300 gallons of tank waste daily—this cold commissioning sets the stage for processing nuclear waste later this year.  NBC Tri-Cities
