  • Mid-Columbia Children's Museum received a $1 million fund—allowing the group to design exhibits and a building for a new museum that has sparked community support through meetings with over 60 members and local officials. CRIME NEWS

  • An 18-year-old man was arrested in Kennewick on five counts of second-degree assault for his role in a large fight with gunfire at Claybell Park in Richland on April 10, 2025—over 20 people were involved and multiple shots were fired, though no one was injured.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • The Benton County Sheriff's Office warned locals that scammers are calling by impersonating law enforcement officers and claiming residents are in legal trouble to pressure them for personal details & money, and advised those targeted to hang up immediately & report the calls to non-emergency dispatch at 509-628-0333.  NewsTalk 870
  • Benton County Sheriff's Office warned locals today that scammers posing as law enforcement officers are calling to claim legal disputes — pressuring residents to share personal and payment information — and advised that real officers will never make such calls.  KONA
  • Kennewick Police are investigating a shooting on W 4th Ave near S Rainier St this afternoon; a clerk from City Mart helped the victim, who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a police K-9 and drone have not located the suspect, so residents are asked to check their cameras and call non-emergency dispatch (509) 628-0333 if they have any useful footage.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • The harvest season begins for several Columbia Basin farmers amid global tariff uncertainty as local agriculture leader James Alford noted that farm labor has stayed strong. He added that statewide policies on minimum wage and overtime likely will cause more challenges than tariffs for farmers.  KEPR TV

  • Today, dry northerly winds and clear skies keep the Columbia Basin calm while breezy gaps affect the Cascades—by Saturday, lowland temperatures will rise into the 90s and triple-digit highs are expected on Sunday and Monday with isolated mountain thunderstorms possible on Tuesday.  Apple Valley News Now

  • Tri-Cities Kadlec Cancer Center upgraded its linear accelerator machine, reducing radiation exposure, improving treatment times, and yielding more precise tumor measurements. The upgrade also includes a treatment couch (supporting up to 440 pounds) that will help treat cancer and conditions like osteo-arthritis.  KEPR TV

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Mortgage rates dropped to 6.95% for the week ending June 5 — ending four weeks of increases — but experts warn the small drop does not ease the heavy monthly payments for many buyers.
