  • Over the past weekend and Monday, June 16th, community members gathered at Kurtzman Park for Juneteenth celebrations with parades, food, and family activities that honored freedom. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 61-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing south on Gage by a westbound vehicle—he was not in a marked crosswalk near Costco between Louisiana and Grandridge and police are investigating by asking area businesses for surveillance footage.  The KEY

  • Kennewick is set to welcome its first Chick-fil-A as the new restaurant opens on June 19 at 6:30 a.m. at 7009 W. Canal Drive near Hobby Lobby—offering drive-thru, dine-in, carry-out and mobile pickup while it creates up to 130 jobs and supports local food aid with a $25,000 donation and free entrees for 100 local heroes.  Tri-Cities Business News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office warns residents to follow strict fireworks sale and use times ahead of July 4 celebrations. Fireworks sales are allowed on June 28 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. with use from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.+ from June 29 to July 3 both sales and use occur from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.+ on July 4 sales run from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. with use until midnight+ on July 5 sales are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with use until 11 p.m. and residents should check local rules for any extra restrictions.  The KEY
  • Businessman Sergio Cerdio, owner of Hibachi Explosion, lost his final citizenship appeal in Tacoma and will be deported to Mexico—his wife and two children will continue living in Kennewick while she runs their food truck and seeks new legal options.
