- ➤ City of Kennewick announced that the Columbia Dog Park opening is delayed due to irrigation problems that keep the grass from meeting city standards—officials say the park will need extra time and a new opening date, tentatively in fall, will be set once repairs are complete. NewsTalk 870

- ➤ Kennewick Police reported on June 17 that 20-year-old Adam Hand allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend ten times near the Gesa Carousel of Dreams during a ride when she tried to leave—he then attempted to crash his car and is now in custody with bail set at $1 million. KEPR TV
- ➤ Kennewick Police say a trusted friend who was asked to store the car repaired and drove the red 1982 Datsun 280 ZX after the owner died—he then asked to relicense it— and the family has not heard from him since. KONA
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, a wildfire burning a dried crop southeast of Kennewick has covered about 30-40 acres in the Mills Rd. and Kirk Rd. area and is moving north with the wind—local officials say no structures are threatened. The Benton County Sheriff's Office has blocked Nine Canyon Mills at Mills Rd. and advised residents to avoid the area. NBC Tri-Cities
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A review of 17 studies found that long fasting before surgery may not lower the rare risk of inhaling vomit — the analysis of nearly 1,800 patients shows that extended fasting might be unnecessary.
