ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A head-on crash occurred in Pasco Thursday night when a 20-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado collided with a 35-year-old man from Kennewick near the Lewis Street underpass—authorities said improper lane usage caused the collision, killing a 22-year-old passenger and sending one driver to the hospital.  Apple Valley News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A wildfire burned down sheds — recreational vehicles — outbuildings — cars — and fences and scorched vegetation along the 2013 PR roadway near Highway 397 late Friday in Finley, and crews said they had contained the wind-driven blaze by midnight despite traffic delays that slowed their response.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • Residents in the Tri-Cities are reporting a rise in rat sightings as construction disrupts existing habitats — Regina Cone from South Richland said she caught about 30 rats damaging her garden. Daniel Anderson of Bamboo Pest Control explained that both roof and Norway rats have been moving into neighborhoods and recommended exclusion measures and bait boxes to help control the infestation.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • A wildfire burned several structures and scorched vegetation Friday night near the 2013 PR roadway and Highway 397 in Finley.
