- ➤ Today, local police departments are hosting community events — including free food, games, and local conversations — to build trust between officers and residents. Kennewick Police, along with Pasco, Richland, and West Richland, will begin their events at 5 p.m. to share community resources. KEPR TV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Local Bounti announced Aug. 4 that it secured $10 million from an existing investor and reduced its debt (through an amended credit agreement) after completing its 3-acre warehouse in Pasco. The convertible note has a five-year term with a 6% annual interest rate and includes a warrant to buy up to 550,000 shares at $0.125 apiece. Tri-Cities Business News
- ➤ HAPO Credit Union, after completing its acquisition of Community First Bank on August 1, announced plans to build a new office complex in Kennewick on 7 acres near Clearwater and Uah Street to support expanding operations. The project will include an 18,000 square foot commercial center (costing $4.8 million) and a 10,000 square foot call center (costing $2.8 million), and all 21 HAPO branches along with the five Community First locations will remain open during construction. - ➤ Old MacDonald's Barn—built by local ag teachers, students and community volunteers—is celebrating its 50th year at the Benton Franklin Fair as it has introduced families to farm life with animals like piglets, chicks and goats; the project received funding from the Fair Board and local businesses. - ➤ School districts including Yakima, Walla Walla, Pasco and Grandview now offer free school supplies to help families ease back-to-school costs plus Lutheran Community Services Northwest will host a Back to School Bash on Aug. 18 at the HAPO Event Center to provide supplies and services for 2,000 kids.
