  • Yesterday, the 77th annual Benton-Franklin Fair and Rodeo began in Kennewick with strong security measures including bag checks and metal detector screenings by local law enforcement.   • Rattlesnake Mountain Harley-Davidson is hosting Bike Night today from 6 to 8 p.m. in Kennewick, offering live music by Mercury Rising, food from Dog Haus Biergarten and Ready n' Out, and a back-to-school supply drive—welcoming families and bike enthusiasts.  FOX 41 Yakima

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Orion High School, known as the Career and College Academy, opened its doors in Pasco on August 20—serving 160 freshmen and providing focused career and college readiness training in high-wage fields with help from community partners as it plans to expand to 600 students.  KEPR TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bonneville Power Administration forecasted $184 million in revenue for the fiscal year ending in October, down $26 million from its previous forecast yet above the $70 million target—its cash on hand stands at 89 days due to higher power earnings and lower expenses. The agency will raise power and transmission rates in October following a settlement, causing Tri-City utilities to pay 8—13% more.  Tri-Cities Business News

  • Today, the FDA warned Washington Walmart shoppers to discard Great Value raw frozen shrimp from lots 8005540-1, 8005538-1, and 8005539-1 with a best-by date of March 15 because tests detected trace radiation that may increase cancer risk over time.
