- ➤ High school swim coaches and community members are urging city council to build an indoor pool to replace the aging Kenneth Serier Pool that serves Kennewick, Southridge, and Kamiakin high schools and the city's 85,000 residents—supporters say the new facility would host major swim meets and improve safety by offering year-long instruction. - ➤ Yesterday, Kennewick police arrested 18-year-old Ramiro Campos-Castro on the 10000 block of Ridgeline Drive after a search revealed a stolen gun — the arrest was carried out by local detectives with help from Tri-City Regional SWAT and the Metro Drug Task Force, and he faces charges for unlawful and stolen firearm possession. - ➤ Benton County sheriff’s deputies arrested a driver after a single vehicle crashed near 27th and Oak St. in east Kennewick, damaging about 25 feet of wooden fencing and showing the driver was under the influence of alcohol—authorities asked motorists to avoid the area as the investigation wrapped up.
