BUSINESS NEWS

  • Two new family-owned businesses, Tinman which offers Mexican metal art & Spicy Delight Popcorn featuring 11 flavors & a planned flavor of the week program, opened their doors today at 507 N Everett Street in Kennewick. Lucia and Dan Villa said the opening marks the start of an effort that began as a way for their children to earn extra money and will soon create local jobs.  Apple Valley News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Two 16-year-olds were arrested in Mattawa on first-degree murder charges after police linked them to a fatal shooting at Hundt Park on August 17 that killed a 19-year-old man, and they were detained on September 4 while the investigation continues.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Kennewick Police increased enforcement on Bob Olson Parkway on Sept. 3rd after a motorcycle rider was caught speeding at 72 MPH then nearly 100 MPH to evade capture—another rider was cited for 69 MPH, and officials warn drivers to slow in the growing neighborhood.  NewsTalk 870
  • Richland Police responded to a DUI-related rollover crash around 2 a.m. Friday near Van Giesen and Thayer Drive that knocked out power for several blocks and led to hospital treatment for all four people—with two sustaining critical injuries—while DUI charges remain pending.  The KEY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kennewick experienced heavy smoke that reduced visibility as a strong high-pressure system trapped wildfire emissions and kept temperatures above normal. Meteorologists predict that cooler temperatures, wind and showers will clear the air by Sunday and bring relief later this week.  The KEY

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Tri-Cities Animal Services in Pasco is caring for two playful pups named Lil Miss Gravy and Mushroom Gravy who arrived on August 15th as part of a rescue pack. The tiny chihuahua/terrier mixes weigh (9 lbs) each and are available for adoption Tuesday-Saturday from 10am to 5pm at 1311 South 18th Avenue with a $50 fee.  The KEY

  • The Tri-City Dust Devils game scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on September 5 was canceled when outfielder Rio Foster was injured in a car crash that morning—officials said he is seriously hurt.  Apple Valley News Now
