  • The Friends of Mid-Columbia Libraries will host a used book sale at Kennewick Library from September 24 to 28 at 1620 South Union Street—members will have a presale on September 23 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Proceeds will benefit local library programs.  The KEY
  • Sausage Fest 2025 is held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 1111 Stevens Drive with events running today from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.—the festival includes new food choices like falafel, added accessible parking, and a second sausage booth while also continuing long-standing traditions such as the chicken dance talent show and volunteer-built booths.  FOX 41 Yakima
  • The Mid-Columbia Duck Race — now in its 37th year — will splash into the Columbia River this Saturday, and thousands of rubber ducks and spectators will join this unique fundraising event in Kennewick.  Apple Valley News Now

  • Darigold will close its Chehalis plant at 67 SW Chehalis Ave. in early December while opening a new 500,000-square-foot facility in Pasco — the move will end nearly 50 years of operations and result in 54 job losses as the company helps workers transition.  NewsTalk 870
  • Toyota and Hyundai announced recalls affecting over 1.1 million vehicles with Toyota recalling over 591,000 cars due to potential instrument panel display failures and Hyundai recalling over 568,000 Palisade SUVs for seat belt buckle issues, and most dealers will fix the vehicles free of charge.  FOX 41 Yakima

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tri-Cities businesses are preparing for the Ironman triathlon on Sunday, September 20th, with Perch Cantina hosting live music from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. EDUCATION NEWS

  • First year teachers in Benton and Franklin Counties who teach first to third grade can receive 75 free books valued at $250 from the Children's Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia to help build their classroom libraries.   • The Department of Energy approved the Direct-Feed Low-Activity Waste program at the Hanford Vitrification Plant to turn stored nuclear waste into glass starting October 15.
