- ➤ Kennewick Irrigation District ended water delivery on Sunday, October 5 due to a third consecutive drought that lowered reservoir storage and river flows+ residents were advised to deep soak lawns, raise mower blades, apply a nitrogen-rich fertilizer, and leave grass clippings to keep lawns green. - ➤ Representative Dan Newhouse said he has heard concerns about staffing shortages and reduced hours at FSA offices and stressed that keeping them open is essential to serve local producers. He said his office will work with Washington state FSA Executive Director John Wyss to address issues+ ensure easy access for those in need. KONA
- ➤ Today, the second phase of the South George Washington Way Improvement project began near the Columbia Point Drive intersection by Winco and closed the Northbound right-turn lane—establishing a detour to reconnect drivers with Columbia Point Drive. The project will reduce traffic and improve pedestrian safety, and it will tie in with the downtown loop project that will convert parts of the street to one-way next spring. KEPR TV
- ➤ Kennewick City Council passed a law that bans drivers from cutting through business parking lots to dodge stoplights — the Kennewick Police now educate drivers and warn that offenders may face a $250 fine.
