- ➤ An expansion of affordable housing is underway at 13th and Gum St as TW Clark Construction builds 58 two-story townhomes called Sunset Ridge Townhomes for low-income families. The new units will have modern energy-efficient appliances and community features — including playgrounds, basketball courts, and a nearby bus stop — and they are scheduled to open late next October or November with a waitlist opening next summer. - ➤ Alaska Air began daily non-stop flights from Pasco Airport to Burbank yesterday on an Embraer 175 plane that seats at least 76 passengers + offers a First Premium option. The new service meets the demand of Tri-City travelers seeking a direct route to the Hollywood-LA area. KONA

- ➤ Alaska Airlines began a daily nonstop flight from Pasco to Hollywood Burbank Airport on Oct. 26, offering a new travel option after Avelo Airlines ended service. Breeze Airlines will add flights in March + expanding travel choices for both work and leisure. Tri-Cities Business News

- ➤ Efforts to build Washington's first small modular reactor in Richland are moving ahead today as Energy Northwest negotiates with Cascade Nuclear Partners—whose expertise in nuclear construction adds confidence in the project's success. The project, announced last October, will include four reactors in its first phase with construction set to begin by the end of this decade and operations expected in the 2030s. NBC Tri-Cities
- ➤ The Columbia-Snake River Irrigators Association opposes the state drought insurance program proposal because they lacked early input and key operational details remain unclear+ recent productive meetings with Ecology officials suggest the state may withdraw the proposal and discuss a revised approach with the Legislature for 2026 funding. - ➤ Kadlec launched a new outpatient clinic called Kadlec Clinic Bridge Care on October 27 to help adults discharged from its hospitals who do not have a regular doctor. Located in the Corrado Building on Kadlec's main campus, it offers in-person and virtual appointments — operating Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday until noon. - ➤ Researchers reported on Monday, Oct. 27 that exposure to tetrachloroethylene—found in dry cleaning and consumer products—tripled the risk of serious liver scarring. The study tracked over 1,600 adults and found that higher levels of PCE raised the odds of liver fibrosis even in people with no usual risk factors. FOX 41 Yakima

- ➤ Ski resorts in eastern Washington plan to begin the season in November with 49 Degrees North and Mission Ridge targeting November 22nd and Mt. Spokane aiming for November 28th.
