- ➤ Officers arrested a man in West Richland who threatened to kill a victim with a chainsaw during a domestic assault on Sunday afternoon—witnesses reported that live grenades and firearms were also found in the residence. The KEY
- ➤ West Richland Police responded today to a domestic assault when a suspect wielding a chainsaw entered a home amid reports of live grenades and firearms; officers safely removed the victim and arrested the suspect after a brief standoff. NBC Tri-Cities

- ➤ WSU Tri-Cities will launch a Brewing Certificate Program in September for anyone interested in starting a career or hobby in beer brewing. The year-long online program includes 12 courses (29 modules), two weekend brewing camps, and a 40% early-enrollment discount that brings the cost to about $3,000 for a professional certificate. - ➤ Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland launched an online wildfire mitigation database — it compiles over 400 plans from 170 utilities covering the period from 2019 to 2028 and is funded by the Department of Energy’s Grid Deployment Office. The database will help utilities, governments and policymakers improve resilience and will be updated with enhanced search tools by summer 2025 — followed by a new resilience framework by summer 2026. - ➤ Commercial property owners should check their fire alarm systems today to meet a new ordinance effective July 1 that fines $500 for the first violation when four false alarms occur within 180 days—firefighters reported 237 unintentional alarms in 2024, and nine locations are expected to face penalties.
