  • Elijah Family Homes is expanding a property on Gene Street by planning six new cottages of 700 square foot size and a community center offering computer access for job searches and recovery meetings.   • City View Cemetery in Pasco will host the Wreaths Across America ceremony on December 13 to place wreaths on nearly 1000 veterans' graves—including some from the Spanish-American War—with a goal of 100% coverage. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Tri-Cities area's first homeschool resource center opened in West Richland, offering curriculum libraries, workshops, hands-on classes and community space for homeschooling families.   • Officials say 11 wildfires are burning over 237K acres in Washington — fires like Labor Mountain and Sugarloaf are causing heavy smoke and residents are urged to follow safety updates.  Apple Valley News Now

FINANCE NEWS

  • Washington families can now apply for financial aid for college and career training; both U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens may file the FAFSA or WASFA, which automatically enters them for the Washington College Grant—applications opened on October 1.  FOX 41 Yakima

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Career Path Services, a Spokane-based nonprofit, received part of a $500,000 state grant to expand apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship training in transportation, infrastructure and other skilled trades in Benton and Franklin counties. The funds will help about 60 people over the next two years—especially those who have faced barriers such as leaving foster care, juvenile rehabilitation, or homelessness.  Tri-Cities Business News
