- ➤ Lutheran Community Services is expanding into a $3 million building at the old amazon facility in Kennewick + boosting youth mental health with 38,000 sq ft of new space for break rooms, staff meetings, and family events. - ➤ The Rotary Club named Chrystal Curiel the winner of the 37th annual Mid-Columbia Duck Race after her duck finished first on Sept. 20, earning her a 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross valued at $27,503. Club members will hand over the keys at Toyota of Tri-Cities in Kennewick on Oct. 24 — an event that supports nonprofits, human services, and education. Tri-Cities Business News

- ➤ Travis Clifton, an assistant basketball coach at Hanford High School, resigned after a February fight at a game with Pasco High School—he said his family suffered from stress while his lawyer said he only tried to calm the situation. Apple Valley News Now

- ➤ Voters in the Kiona-Benton School District will decide on November 4 whether to renew a replacement levy that supports arts, music and athletics programs—this levy maintains a rate of $1.50 per $1,000 of property value for two more years. The district already cut $1.5 million from this year's budget and officials warn that if the levy fails, another $1.5 million will be cut from next year's budget—reducing opportunities for students. - ➤ The Kennewick Irrigation District has appealed a water curtailment order from the Department of Ecology, calling the restriction overly broad and harmful to water delivery for 26,000 accounts.
