BUSINESS NEWS

  • A KPMG report finds that ADAS calibration (the process of aligning key vehicle sensors) is moving from a niche service to a necessary part of car safety, with a 13% annual growth rate predicted for merger and acquisition activity.   • River View High School students transformed a Crosley Cruiser record player into art for a national contest involving over 200 schools.   • River's Edge High School launched Fusion Learning to offer students a new way to earn academic credit by volunteering weekly at local organizations — including Habitat for Humanity and Benton Conservation District — while experiencing more focused classroom time.   • Columbia Basin College + WSU Tri-Cities are updating their nuclear science programs to ready students for evolving reactor designs as plans for a new nuclear power plant move forward in the Tri-Cities.   • Mortgage rates fell to 6.01% APR last week after the Fed cut short-term interest rates and are now the lowest seen in over a year—homeowners with higher rates may refinance to lower monthly payments after comparing loan estimates.   • The Washington State Employment Security Department said the paid family medical leave rate will rise from 0.92% to 1.13% beginning January to combat a projected fund deficit.
