- ➤ The Tri-Cities has unveiled its first-ever Giving Machines that let residents buy services for local non-profits as the holidays approach. It will be stationed at Richland Fairchild Cinema until Dec 10 — daily local artist shows will run during theater hours. KEPR TV

- ➤ Verizon will cut 165 jobs at 23 locations across Washington—including Kennewick—as part of a restructuring effort that will lead to permanent layoffs starting on Jan. 23; affected employees may apply for other positions if eligible. KEPR TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Joyce McHenry, a fifth grade teacher at Columbia River Elementary School, received November's Classroom Makeover from WaFd Bank and plans to use the award funds to enhance a hands-on financial literacy project. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ In late September, the U.S. Department of Labor announced that if the interim rule is adopted, the H-2A rate will drop by about $1.80 an hour in Idaho, $2.10 in Oregon and nearly $2.50 in Washington. The proposed changes may help farmers manage labor costs during peak harvest times—public comments will help shape the final rule in spring. KONA

- ➤ A Northwestern Medicine study found that almost two-thirds of lung cancer patients would not have been eligible for CT chest scans under current guidelines that focus on heavy smokers — the researchers suggest universal screening for people aged 40 to 85 to catch lung issues sooner. - ➤ Officials announced that Twin Sisters Creamery recalled four raw milk cheeses—Whatcom Blue, Farmhouse, Peppercorn and Mustard Seed—after tests found E. coli that sickened three people in Oregon and Washington. - ➤ A study found that older adults who eat meals alone have poorer nutrition—showing less intake of fruits, vegetables, and protein and an increased risk of weight loss and frailty.
